What to pack.

A concise checklist of the important items our guests should carry while on safari and climbing Kilimanjaro. You can leave bulky gear like sleeping bags and tents to us — we provide those on the mountain.

Safari essentials

  • Passport + yellow-fever certificate (if required)
  • Sun hat, sunglasses & high-SPF sunscreen
  • Lightweight, neutral-coloured clothing (khaki, olive, beige)
  • Warm fleece or light jacket for early morning game drives
  • Comfortable closed walking shoes or boots
  • Binoculars & camera with extra memory cards/batteries
  • Insect repellent (DEET-based) and after-bite cream
  • Personal medications & basic first-aid kit
  • Reusable water bottle and day pack
  • Light rain jacket (Nov–May showers)

Kilimanjaro essentials

  • Valid passport and climb permit documents
  • Four-season sleeping bag (rated to -10°C or lower)
  • Warm insulated jacket, thermal layers & waterproof shell
  • Hiking boots (broken-in) + camp shoes / trainers
  • Warm hat, sun hat, gloves (liner + waterproof)
  • Headlamp with spare batteries for summit night
  • Trekking poles, gaiters and rain cover for day pack
  • Water bottles / hydration system (3L capacity)
  • Sunscreen, lip balm, sunglasses and personal snacks
  • Diamox / altitude medication (consult your doctor)

Porters carry the bulk of your gear; pack only what you need in your day pack. Rentable gear is available in Arusha if you prefer to travel light.
